Tallis Piaget was born and raised in St. Louis Missouri. He comes from a big family yet has always been alone. — Well, simple sounds good enough for most people, but for Tallis Piaget, life was far from simple. Living in an area that was falling apart and rapidly getting out of control, the inner city decaying around him, and the sense of utter despair became all too familiar.
OTR: Hello, Tallis. How are you doing today?
TP: I am doing just fine.
OTR: For those who do not know you, please enlighten the audience about who Tallis Piaget is.
TP: I am the author of the book “Black Boogiemen”. I am the chief editor of a local magazine. I am also a protein biochemist.
OTR: You’ve written a book entitled “Black Boogiemen”. Tell us about that.
TP: If a person grows up in the inner city and works hard (good grades, goes to college, earns a substantial degree), the first action this person performs upon reaching a somewhat successful status is LEAVE. In turn the inner city loses its most important assets, leaving these areas lacking positive role models. Well, “Black Boogiemen” is a fictional story about a charismatic leader that unites all of these successful men, and forces them to return to the worse parts of the inner city to LIVE.
This covert team of men (Black Boogiemen) truly bring about change to the inner city. They first begin to affect the aesthetics, beautifying the neighborhood. They revamp the educational system making it more conducive to the young urban mind. Finally, they get rid of all of the drug dealers and gangbangers, and they force every urban youth to pull their pants up (or else). Eventually, the inner city morphs into something comparable to a Utopian Society, free of the nefarious aspects that plague all poor urban areas.

OTR: Where did you find the inspiration to pen this novel?
TP: Why did I write this book? Being honest again, I see the deplorable state of most inner cities throughout America. No matter what state we visit, their urban area is usually the place that contains a preponderance of criminal activity. And I truly believe that if we as a people continue to neglect these areas, the places and the people will devolve to a place of no return. If action isn’t immediate, we will see the continued degradation of our people, our state, and our country.
OTR: Is this your first novel?
TP: Yes. Though I have been writing forever, this is my first published novel.
OTR: What other projects are you working on?
TP: Because the fans really want a sequel, I have been working on a Black Boogiemen part 2. I also have two other novels I am working on that are in a completely different genre. One is mythical and the other is a science fiction novel.
OTR: How long have you been writing?
TP: I have to admit that I have been writing all of my life. But I never thought I would attempt to actually make a career of it.
OTR: Did you self-publish your book or was it submitted through a publisher?
TP: I self published. I really wanted to get this unbelievable story to the masses and waiting on an literary agent, then waiting on a traditional publisher would have taken too much time. I also believe if you build your own brand first, once approached by a a publishing company, you have more negotiating power.
OTR: What makes you stand out from all the other authors as far as writing style is concerned?
TP: Well I am trained as an analytical protein biochemist, simply put I am scientist. This job required extensive training in technical writing. The precision and logic that I’ve learned from my scientific background combined with my innate writing skills combine to make a writing style that is unique within itself. Finally, add a wondrous imagination and some intense passion, and what’s left are words and stories that leave people unable to turn their eyes away from those powerful pages. My writing style and my stories are extremely unique and grabbing. If anyone takes just a few minutes to try me out, I guarantee they will agree.
OTR: If you can spend a day with one of the characters in your book, who would it be and why?
TP: Of course it would be the star of the book, the protagonist. He is such an honorable character I would like to learn from a person who holds honor in such a high regard.
OTR: How often do you write?
TP: My writing is very erratic and sporadic. Sometimes I don’t write for a month or two, then all of a sudden I will write for hours everyday for a month or two. I try to write when the feeling hits, otherwise it feels forced and the words don’t fall properly. But when the words are ready to fly free , I can write continuously without thought for days on end. Almost like a man possessed.
OTR: If you can co-write a book with another author, who would it be and why?
TP: It would be Stephen King, he is my favorite writer.
OTR: What is your advise to aspiring authors?
TP: My advice to any aspiring writer is very simple. If you want to be a great writer, read great books.
