Rising country musician Stephanie Quayle set for Alhambra concert

Always talk to the people carrying guitar cases. Especially in airports.

That habit proved beneficial when Margaret Prim had a flight delay on her way home to Hopkinsville from New York earlier this summer.

Country musician Stephanie Quayle and members of her band were also stuck trying to get back home.

“It was four hours. We had a lot of time to chat,” said Prim, executive director of the Pennyroyal Arts Council.

As a result of that airport encounter, Quayle, who is a new member of CMT’s Next Women of Country, will be performing Sept. 26 at the Alhambra Theater.

Tickets for the 7 p.m. concert are $20. Quayle’s performance is part of the Hoptown Harvest Festival. McGee Pest Control is sponsoring the Quayle concert.

Quayle was named one of Rolling Stone’s “10 New Country Artists You Need to Know” in 2017. The magazine took note of her new single, “Drinking With Dolly,” a nostalgic song about country music royalty of another generation.

“Imagine sitting around a table with Tammy, Loretta, Dolly and Patsy,” Quayle said. “Can you even picture it? What would have been said? I’d probably just sit there and take notes.”

Prim hopes booking Quayle will lead to more up-and-coming country musicians who want to perform at the Alhambra. A CMT executive involved in getting Quayle’s concert in Hopkinsville is helping Prim meet agents who represent other musicians.

Since the concert coincides with Hoptown Harvest Festival events honoring Fort Campbell soldiers, Quayle will have a meet-and-greet at the Army post before her performance. She’ll be giving away 101 tickets for her show to soldiers, their families and veterans.

“We’re really thrilled that Stephanie Quayle is coming to perform at the Alhambra during Christian County Salutes Fort Campbell Week and will share her talents with both our hometown and military communities,” said Lindsey Geraci, director of military affairs for the Christian County Chamber of Commerce.
