Apart from the church, Wilson’s musical appetite was also fed by his father as they would listen to an assortment of music in his father’s car. His father mainly exposed him to gospel, rock, and pop. Wilson’s musical inspirations include a variety of artists such as Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Rod Stewart and many other popular artists from the 80’s.Upon graduating from High School, Wilson attended an audio engineering school, and although he made a few good contacts and acquaintances, he soon recognized that this direction was not for him; he could not ignore his innate desire to produce, write and record his own music as it provided him with a creative outlet. With this being said, Wilson left the audio engineering school in order to pursue his own music career.
Although young, Wilson is a very seasoned music artist and producer. In 2011, he wrote a song entitled “Sex in the Lounge” that was very well received by the nation! The song received so much attention that a world-renowned female rap artist, Nicki Minaj, adopted the song as her own in 2012, and “Sex in the Lounge” appeared on her multi-platinum album entitled Pink Friday Roman Reloaded.
In 2015, Wilson wrote a song called “Wine for Me” which “fell” into the hands of Natasha Wilson, a well-known soca artist and CEO of NOW Production. Natasha Wilson immediately fell in love with “Wine for Me” because although it was primarily an R&B song. Wilson then put his attention into recording an ep and released his first ep Rendezvous.
On Rendezvous, he had several popular tracks, one of them a single titled “Don’t Know”, which was about having a relationship on the down low. The other “Foreign” was about a hustler on his grind trying to come up.
Last year Wilson began working on Rendezvous 2. He did not want to stray too far from his original sound when writing Rendezvous 2. He wanted to continue with the original concept of making R&B music that was relatable and had a message. When asked about what was the inspiration for his new EP, Wilson stated, “The inspiration for the album really came from the women who I saw getting money in those gentlemen’s clubs that are look down on because of what they do I wanted to record songs for my fans showing them my perspective on it “it’s just dancing lol.”
When asked about his growth as an artist Wilson stated, “I grew with this new ep sonically and creatively because I produced and wrote a vision for the project that was a lil more clearer than that of the previous ep. I wanted to have sampled vibes to the sound I love, the 80s and 90s musical approach. I wanted to do the same thing, keep my style similar but also evolving.
He went on to state, Rendezvous 2 is a feel good Alternative R&B album. There’s a track on there called ” Deserve” that I would say was the hardest to write, the beat had already been made and I kept trying to come up with something but had to keep it real, I wanted to write a song letting women know that they deserve everything this world can offer them and no one should deny them of it ”.
Get ready to enjoy a creative masterpiece, Rendezvous 2 is available now on all digital platforms.
