Months of preparation will come together in early March as the 34th Annual Fabulous Fifties opens for the first in a series of nine performances, showcasing actors, an 11-member band, dancers and singers, all sure to entertain with a wide range of songs from the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s.
A core number of more than 80 volunteers will join in producing this benefit for local cancer patients through the Multi-County Cancer Support Network.
“This is a show that you won’t want to miss,” says Jane Wilcox, producer.
“This year’s Fabulous Fifties Show is earlier than in years gone by,” she explains. “We have changed the dates to be performed before our schools’ spring break. This will enable our performers to enjoy their children’s time off from school as well as to allow our audience to attend our show if they have planned a family vacation during spring break.”
‘Fun and Games’
Dates and times for the 2020 rendition of the Fabulous Fifties Show are March 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, and 14 at 7 p.m. each night and March 7, 8 and 14 at 1:30 p.m. each day. The place, 909 Main Ave. South in Fayetteville.
“Our theme is ‘Fun & Games’,” notes Jane. “Our amazing actors go to Hollywood to participate in a game show to win money for local cancer patients through the Multi-County Cancer Support Network. Sound familiar?
“Of course, they add humor to the skit and will surprise you with their answers in the game show. These actors are so skilled that they sometimes improvise. Josh Ogle, our talented script writer, is going to throw the actors off-balance as he will change some of the game show questions each performance. This should make for some fun times for the actors and our audience!”
The 11-member band and scores of singers and dancers round out the cast. The band started practicing in November, and the singers and dancers started practice the first of January.
“It will be obvious to anyone attending the show that these performers have honed their skills and are ready to show off their talents,” the producer continues. “The cast and crew consist of ages 1 1/2 to into our 70s. Therefore, it is definitely a family friendly show.
“It is newsworthy to note that EVERY performer in our show is a volunteer and is from Lincoln County. It’s jaw-dropping to realize that none of these people is a professional since they all seem like they are.”
The Fabulous Fifties Show is blessed to have the support of our community to help sell tickets, hand out programs, help backstage, print signs, feed the cast and crew, and the list goes on.

Tickets and donations
Ticket prices are only $15 for adults, and $5 for children ages 3-12. Children under the age of 3 are free when held by an adult.

“There are many ways for people to help us raise funds for our neighbors with cancer,” says Jane. “If you don’t have time to eat beforehand, our concession stand will have pizza, popcorn, candy, nachos, water and soft drinks. Our souvenir table will be selling T-shirts and various items to commemorate your time at our show.”
