Principal photography has now wrapped on The Colour of Madness, starring genre favourite Barbara Crampton alongside up and coming actors Sophie Stevens and Ludovic Hughes.
The official synopsis of the film is: “After the death of his mother, Isaac and his pregnant wife Emma return to the remote Norwegian island of his birth to deal with an unexpected inheritance. They find themselves caught in a nightmare as an ancient cosmic horror awakens to claim a birth right of its own.”
Bloody Disgusting can exclusively reveal more details. Set amidst the beautiful, otherworldly scenery of the Norwegian Fjords, the film combines the “strangers ensnared by a dangerous pagan cult” themes from classics like The Wicker Man with a heavy dose of H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos. Fans of The Call of Cthulhu in particular will spot a lot of Easter eggs at the front of the action.
Co-director Andy Collier said, “Production so far has gone well and we couldn’t be happier about how the film is coming together. We are using 100% practical effects, with some disgusting looking robotic tentacles for a few body horror shocks, together with a very dark, creepy story – hopefully the final movie will get a great big thumbs up from horror fans.”
Lead Sophie Stevens said, “I’m so excited to share this eerie story that we discovered hidden behind the beauty we found in Norway! My advice is: stay away from the water…”
Barbara Crampton added, “I’m delighted to return to my horror roots and bring a frightening Lovecratian story to life. Do we really manage control of our destiny? Or are we hurtling towards an inevitable, unspeakable end which is out of our hands? The Colour of Madness will make you question yourself, your choices and the ones you love the most.”
The film is now in post production and will hit the festival circuit in 2020.
