Hannah Spivey:  Hi, Kenetia. How’s life treating you?

Kenetia: So well!!! Loving every minute of it.

Hannah Spivey:  For all the readers out there who aren’t familiar with you and your work, tell them about yourself.

Kenetia:  I’m a beauty expert turned beauty activist, speaker and author of Fearless Beauty: A Woman’s Guide to Living Bold, Beautiful & Free. My passion is empowering women to challenge their fears and celebrate their beauty.

Hannah Spivey:  You wear plenty of hats. You’re a beauty activist, make-up artist, author, and speaker. Why did you choose to get involved with uplifting and empowering women?

Kenetia:  As a makeup artist so much of my time is spent convincing women of their beauty so I took my message of healing our internal dialogue to larger audience.

Hannah Spivey:  How long have you been involved in all the careers you’re in?

Kenetia:  I’ve been a Red Carpet makeup artist and speaker for various beauty companies for over 10 years, my book was just published last year in October so being a published author is somewhat new to me.

Hannah Spivey: Tell the readers about the latest projects you’re involved in.

Kenetia:  Well award season just ended where I worked the Golden Globes and Grammy’s. I’ve started a NYC Fearless Beauty Healing Circle for women to talk about and learn some of the exercises in my book. I’ve also put together some really great online Google+ hangouts on various topics to help women challenge their fears.

Hannah Spivey:  How long did it take you to write your book and do you plan to write and release another one?

Kenetia:  For years I had been saying that I’m writing a book, but the truth is during that time I was gathering information. It took me 1 year to actually write and edit the book. I’ll likely write many more books, right now I don’t have any release dates in mind. However, I’m inclined to write my next book for teenage girls.

Hannah Spivey:  What do many people do not know about you?

Kenetia:  I feel like I’m a pretty open book, but many people may not know I jump out of airplanes. I once jumped with the Golden Knights which is the elite jump team of the U.S. Army Parachute Team.

Hannah Spivey:   What inspires you?

Kenetia:  This may sound a little corny, but LOVE. Whether I’m the one giving it, receiving it or seeing someone else get that they are loved that inspires me most.

Hannah Spivey:   What is the toughest challenge for you in what you’re doing?

Kenetia:  You ever heard the notion of people teaching what they need to learn most? My toughest challenge is challenging my fears constantly. I have pretty big goals so I’m always faced with moving past my fears to speak in public, being authentic with people that I know and don’t know.

Hannah Spivey:   If you can work with any celebrity any of the fields you’re working in, who would it be and why?

Kenetia:  Kerry Washington (she is an extraordinary person who stands for something, if I could share the stage with her or do her makeup I’d be really happy) Rihanna (she is so wise and beautiful and I know she has some healing to do with her father, so I would love to interview her and give her my book)
