Going from television to film tends to be a big endeavor for most up and coming actors and actresses, though fortunately they tend to team up with directors making that same transition. The Good Place star William Jackson Harper and You’re the Worst star Aya Cash are now set to star in an upcoming indie romantic comedy directed by first time film directer Jeff Rosenberg. The film, titled We Broke Up, was written by Rosenberg and Laura Jacqmin.
We Broke Up will center around couple Doug and Lori (Harper and Cash) who broke up a few days before the wedding of Lori’s sister. The downside is that no one in their family is aware of the break up. With that in mind, Lori and Doug pretend to still be together in order to ensure that no drama will occur during Lori’s sister’s special day. Sounds simple enough, but the couple will end up realizing that keeping a secret like this is a lot harder than it sounds. The film will also star many other TV talent including Fraiser‘s Peri Gilpin, Veep‘s Emily Pendergast, and Mayans M.C.’s Sarah Bolger, just to name a few.
We Broke Up will hopefully serve as a good vehicle for Harper and Cash. Both actors have been branching out into various film roles, with Cash starring in the upcoming horror comedy Scare Me, and Harper appearing in Ari Aster’s horror film Midsommar. With a romantic comedy like this, it’s clear we will see more from both stars in the near future.
No release date has been set for We Broke Up as of yet.
