2020 Looks Bright For These Up And Coming Irish Stars

We already know that we have some very talented people on our Emerald Isle, I mean U2 isn’t a worldwide sensation for nothing!

However, it seems that we might have some more talents rising from across the country as they’ve emerged in the last number of years.

Some of these are actors and actresses along with a singer or two but one thing is for sure, these Irish lads and lassies will be making waves in 2020. Be prepared to see some potential Oscar and Grammy awards coming our way very soon!

This Mullingar actress is tipped to be ‘the next Saoirse Ronan’, and we know what a big deal that is! She wowed audiences with her role in BBC drama The Virtues along with being named BAFTA and Netflix’s rising star of the century just a few months ago!

Not only that but the twenty-nine-year-old is set to star in Guy Ritchie’s newest action flick Cash Truck as the lead female star.

Anyone living in the 21st century knows that Youtubers make a ridiculous amount of money. Sure an eight-year-old Youtuber is one of the richest people in America! It seems twenty-four-year-old Kelly from Meath had the right idea when she began her gaming Youtube in June 2015.

Kelly now has 3.02 million subscribers and 1.6 billion views on her ‘Little Kelly Minecraft’ Youtube channel while her company Kelfit Entertainment Ltd, was sitting on accumulated profits of €169,742.

Did someone say McWidow? This Irish actor has only gone and bagged himself a leading role in hit American tv series Grey’s Anatomy, playing Meridith Grey’s newest love-interest  Dr Cormac Hayes.

The Dublin-born actor rose to fame with his role in Virgin Media’s Red Rock as Superintendent James McKay. He’s definitely going to be one to watch out for!

This Dublin-born singer has really made her mark this year, releasing two singles and performing at Electric Picnic.

She is signed by the Universal record label and has been named by them as ‘one to watch’ in 2020, and we can definitely agree.

Her hit single’s Don’t Bother and Break Me have more than a million streams combined and we can guarantee you’ve been singing along with the blonde bombshell on the radio!

We’re pretty sure that winning an award which has previously been won by the likes of Saoirse Ronan and Leonardo DiCaprio means you’ve already made it.

Ely Solan from Galway is just fourteen-years-old and bagged the Young Artist Award in Hollywood for his role in the film Detainment, about the killing of two-year-old James Bulger. You can check him out in the new season of Drop Dead Weird on RTE 2 and in the upcoming movie, Four Kids and It.

Having Bono as a father is bound to give you some musical inspiration and it seems this is the case for his son Elijah and his band Inhaler.

The band is on the verge of something great after playing Electric Picnic and being chosen by Noel Gallagher to support his tour with the High Flying Birds last summer!

The band includes Elijah, Robert Keating, Ryan McMahon and Josh Jenkinson who formed their band while they were at school.

This Irish-Italian actress was born in Dublin before moving to Italy. However, four years later she returned to the Big Smoke with her mother and is now being tipped by fashion bible Vogue as the breakout star of indy flick, The Nightingale earlier this year.

You might also recognise her for her role as Lyanna Stark in hit HBO series Game of Thrones.

Paul Mescal

This might be a name that not many people have heard of… YET!

Almost everyone and their mother has heard of Sally Rooney’s novel ‘Normal People’ (it just made Barack Obama’s list of best books for 2019) and whether you’ve read it or not we can guarantee that you will watch the newly adapted series.

Paul has claimed the main role of Connell, from a small town in Ireland. This will be Paul’s TV debut, starring alongside Daisy Edgar Jones. We guarantee the pair will be household names by the end of 2020.
