Tachyra Thornton  is a beautiful model that I met several years ago while working with a rap group from Arkansas.  Her cousin brought her to Atlanta and at first glance, I absolutely knew that I wanted to keep in touch with her.  She was quite tall, and looked almost like a splitting image of the singer Rihanna.  She was stunning.  Absolutely stunning.

You see her and wonder, “who’s that girl”.  I asked Chy to introduce herself again to my audience…

“I was born and raised in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. My mother, Twynette Thornton-Johnson raised me and alongside her was my late great-grandmother, Margie Lee Walls-Smith. My mother was a single parent for all 20 years of my life. I lost my great-grandmother 6 years ago in May. After that, it was a growing point for me because her and my mom were all I knew. My father stuck his head in from time to time and did what he could. Situations like that are what helped my mother to build me to be the woman that I am today. While I was growing up, I was a tomboy. I loved to run around outside and be rough. Most people don’t know this, but I grew up wanting to sing. Soon after, I started playing basketball at 11 and from then on that sport stuck with me until my first year of college. Sometimes, I wish I could press rewind and go back to high school to play basketball again because my experience in college wasn’t the best.12767273_10206888272618516_1095737979_n (1) I feel like I wasted my time with college ball, so I stayed focused on my studies. 12746493_10206888272698518_1243247935_n (1)My major was Biology, but I changed it to Therapeutic Recreation because I like to help people and mother has been sick since 2008 and she has had to go to physical therapy to get back on her feet, so I thought it would be good to be able to help my mom at home. In my spare time, I like to SLEEP because I’m always on the go. I’m always back and forth between modeling, working, and school. The very first time I ever considered modeling was because of my great-grandmother. She forced me to enter a model call in our mall in Pine Bluff for Excel Models & Talent. I was a call-back winner because they felt that I had the potential of being a model, so that opened my eyes to it. My mother has always wanted me to get my education and for some reason, she felt that modeling would sort of stray me away from it, but she ended up coming around to it because she has always supported me in everything I do. A couple of years later, my cousin-in-law, Demetric Johnson entered me into my first runway fashion show and ever since then, local designers in Little Rock, Arkansas picked me up. Some designers to name are Linda Rowe-Thomas, Diamond Kelly, Nicole McGhee, and Tashika Keown. I stayed in the modeling scene because I felt comfortable with having that “spotlight.” I met new friends and I took advantage of several opportunities. Modeling refreshes my soul. When I get on a runway or get in front of a camera, I feel like it’s all about me. I feel like a totally different person. I am a runway model, print, promotional model and even more if you want me to be because there isn’t anything that “Supermodel Chy” can’t do. I Am…..
