How many times have you found yourself searching for shoes for an outfit last minute? You’ve known about this event for weeks, maybe even months, and you’ve already found the perfect outfit… but you have no shoes to go with it. You find yourself going store to store with no results of producing the perfect shoe. So what do you do? You end up changing your outfit- something I have never really understood…not to say that I have never done this before, because I absolutely have.
I have found that in the past few years, I have not had the panic of needing the perfect shoe because I already had it. How many times have we been in stores or shopping online and see an amazing pair of shoes but passed them up because we had nothing to wear with them. Now you see something that would have gone with those shoes you passed up, it is often too late because they are no longer available. Now, you have missed out on two opportunities. Think about how often you say to yourself or others “I’m not going to get that because I don’t have anything to wear with that”?
We are constantly passing on those things we like because it’s either not the current trend or we have nothing to wear with it. We pass up perfectly fashionable shoes, purses, clothing, and even accessories! Seriously, over the past few years, I haven’t been in a panic to find shoes last minute! Why? Because I decided to buy those shoes! Right then and there. I kept looking, and had nothing to go with them but I knew one day I would.
In 2011 I decided to redo my closet from shoes to clothes and everything in between. I don’t shop in trends but in my own personal style. I don’t shop in seasons because I may find a nice pair of white shoes on sale in the winter and I just made plans with them for the spring or summer. When I see a pair of shoes I like I buy them, I don’t care if I don’t have anything in my closet to match them or not. I currently have shoes in my closet with the tags still on them, shoes I have never worn, this is just more reason to shop for clothes.
I find myself buying shoes that I know I will never wear just because I like them and if I like them I know someone else will like them , as a result I often give away a lot of shoes. Not to say that you have to do the same, but I definitely suggest that if you see a pair of shoes or two and you like buy them! Worry about the outfit later.
Here is a picture of some of my shoes, I couldn’t get them all in the picture, but I haven’t even worn all of these shoes. I have even had some of them for years! They are simply awaiting the perfect outfit!
Fashion is only the beginning!
